Places to Visit

Rosehill Cottage is located on the edge of the old village of Lanivet, taking its name from Saint Nivet, and situated in the middle of the Saints Way, the old pilgrimmage route running from Padstow on the north coast to Looe on the south coast. Whilst benefitting from a peaceful and picturesque rural setting, it is only three miles from restaurants in Bodmin or eight miles from Lostwithiel, the old medieval capital of Cornwall, with its antique and craft shops and fine restaurants.

Gardens

The world famous Eden Project is only a twenty minute drive and beyond that, the Lost Gardens of Heligan a further fifteen minute drive. The mild climate provides suitable conditions for a range of plant life, which can be enjoyed in the many and varied gardens in the area.

Coast

In this part of Cornwall you are never far from the sea. You can enjoy the rugged and spectacular coastline in the north with Tintagel, Boscastle and Port Isaac or, by contrast, the quaint working fishing harbours in the south, such as Polperro and Mevagissey. You may wish to visit one of the old haunts of smugglers or pirates, or simply admire some of the golden beaches, such as Newquay.

Historic sites

Lanhydrock House is only two miles away, whilst Trerice, Pencarrow House, Saint Michael’s Mount are just some of the buildings of historic interest located in this area. On your journey to us you may wish to stop at Jamaica Inn, made famous by local novelist, Daphne Du Maurier.

You can also visit Bodmin Jail museum, Military museum or the Bodmin and Wenford steam railway.
